Discuss your ideas with me and I will design and create your piece with the attention to detail that only a master craftsman can bring. And if you have an antique or special piece of wooden furniture that needs restoration, then I can bring it back to life. | Display cabinet, built from recycled rimu and matai in an 1850s European style. Clean lines enhance the displayed items in an unobtrusive way. |
TV cabinet, built from recycled timber. The clients were looking for a piece that would go nicely with their antique furniture. I left as much as possible of the old character and finished it with oil and bees wax. The front doors concertina back into the cabinet to give an undisturbed view of the screen. |

| A West Coast sawmiller came in one day with a flitch and a couple of pieces of 4x2. He had that wood stored under his house for years and wanted to get something made out of it. He asked me to design a coffee table with a difference. The timber was very special to him and brought back memories. I came up with an almost Japanese looking design, which concentrates on the simplicity and on the actual construction to highlight the beauty of the silver beech bur wood. To finish I used a natural oil rubbed finish. |
Coffee table in sycamore and walnut, creates a good sized space for magazines and other accessories or gives enough room for family games. I chose a lighter timber for the legs to give this quite large table a very light feel. By separating the top from the bottom, the eyes concentrate on the construction, the proportions, and also on the beauty of the table top. |

Maori carving - Wheku. East coast style. Ngati Porou. Face of the crayfish (Mata Koura). Displayed traditionally in the gable of the meeting house to scare the bad spirits away. My first carving with Hemi Tahuparae, woodcarver for Maori Art at the University of Awanuiarangi. |
